I got ‘Bangalore – A Graphic Novel’ for free in my Kindle app because I have a kindle unlimited membership. Graphic Novels are expensive and I am glad that this one came into my digital library for free – because it’s probably the first graphic novel where I skipped pages!

Honestly, I’ve had my eye on this book for a few months, but I didn’t really buy it because there were more interesting graphic novels that had to be read. But who can resist a near free book? (Near free because we have to pay a membership free, it’s not like unlimited members are not paying anything).

Maybe I just had different expectations from the book and it has multiple short stories from different writers and the panels are also done by different artists. To my disappointment, I didn’t like any story. In fact, I forced husband to read a story to take his opinion, since we are poles apart when it comes to books, movies and art.

“What did you think of the story?”

“It was okay, very ordinary”

“Not good right, I thought it was blah too,” I sighed. At least I was not the only one that thought it sucked. The first story I did read completely and it was about an African immigrant living in India, the panels tell us his story from his rise to significant fame to ultimate penury. While reading it, I just wondered “why am I reading this?”.

None of the stories could keep me engaged as a reader. Not once did I laugh, giggle or even cringe, it was just a flat read. And even the illustrations were not eye-catching.

If you are a kindle unlimited member and want to read it, I wouldn’t say don’t get it, but I would love to know what you thought of it.

(Also, if you are a kindle unlimited member, you could check out my book “Death & Darker Realms”, and if you read it, you can give me feedback, negative feedback is also more than welcome 🙂 My insta handle is @scarredfoot)
