Good things come to patient readers – Exorcism Island #4 sees Jordan Thomas and team back on track, ramping up the demonic activity and monster mayhem.
The issue begins on a calm note, with one of the older priests reminiscing about his past by the window, while a moka pot brews fresh coffee. It’s an excellent deceptive opening, since we all know life on an island filled with possessed individuals cannot be calm and quiet for too long. So minutes later, the priest is faced with new horrors on the job.

If you remember, issue #3 of Exorcism Island had ended with all the priests discussing the cursed ‘dancing prince’ and its potential powers, while also witnessing a terrifying new demon. That entity now emerges as a looming monster boss of sorts, rallying the island’s demonic forces under its command, with a malevolent agenda that goes far beyond simply wiping out the priests.
It’s a full-blown priests versus demons clash this time, and the odds aren’t exactly in the priests’ favor. Will crosses, holy water, and unwavering faith be enough to protect them? It doesn’t look promising unless they start thinking beyond their old-school tools. And the artwork perfectly captures all the eerie, supernatural tension.

While all the island mayhem unfolds in the usual burnt orange tone, the parallel plot centered around the Vatican shows all is not well with the Cardinal in purple colored panels. Older issues already indicated he is being haunted by creepy demons, and this haunting keeps getting worse.
How the Vatican haunting connects to the violence on Exorcism Island promises to make for an exciting next chapter, with subtle hints already beginning to foreshadow a deeper link between the two.
Overall, this was an excellent issue, which gets over in a blink!
