Remember the 2021 horror film Chhorii, where Nushrratt Bharuccha played Sakshi, a city girl who finds herself trapped with a secretive rural family, hidden away in the middle of endless sugarcane fields?

Well, director Vishal Furia is back with a sequel, and the trailer for Chhorii 2 already promises to up the scare factor. The visuals look sharper, the atmosphere more ominous, and the ghostly elements even creepier this time around.

The first film followed Sakshi, a pregnant NGO worker who takes refuge in her driver’s remote village home after her husband gets into trouble with ruthless loan sharks. There, she’s cared for by the seemingly kind Devi, until things start to unravel. Sakshi begins seeing mysterious boys playing around the house, only to learn they’re ghosts. As the haunting escalates, Devi’s true nature and the village’s horrifying secrets come to light, putting Sakshi’s life and her unborn child’s too at risk.

Chhorii 2 picks up a few years after Sakshi’s terrifying escape. She now has a seven-year-old daughter, Ishani, who suffers from a rare medical condition. When Ishani suddenly goes missing, Sakshi is forced to return to the very village she once barely escaped. Evil forces seem to want her daughter, and now the stakes are even higher. Can Sakshi protect her child and survive the nightmare all over again?

We never expected Chhorii to get a sequel, but this new chapter feels promising. Among the fresh additions to the cast is Soha Ali Khan, who appears to be playing a sinister supernatural entity. Judging by the trailer, the sequel promises not only more spine-chilling thrills but also a deeper emotional core centered around motherhood and fear.

Chhorii 2 hits screens on April 11. Prepare to be haunted all over again.
