Quick recap of ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’ Episode 10: Inako and Kihachi clear up their misunderstanding, with Kihachi assuring her that he’ll continue pursuing his electrical dreams even though Seiroku’s catalog is now with Yosuke. The two then help Kengo confess his true feelings for Noriko after he calls off their engagement, believing he isn’t worthy of her hand. The couple eventually make up and decide to get married. Meanwhile, Yosuke struggles to crack the secrets of Seiroku’s catalog and finally decides to use Kihachi to do it.

Titled ‘The Enticing Circuit’, episode 11 of Sparks of Tomorrow opens with a brief flashback of Noriko handing Seiroku some mysterious documents referred to as the ‘Electric Nishiki’, consisting a bunch of numbers and words that don’t make much sense to her. Interestingly, in the present timeline, Inako comes across the Electric Nishiki at Yosuke’s residence and figures out that the key to uncovering the truth behind it might lie with her father.

Inako’s first instinct is to seek out Kihachi for help, but her friend is off trying to solve his own problems. Yosuke sneakily sends him the coded papers that he himself couldn’t decipher, and Kihachi, of course, figures out a way to crack them. But this time, the answers lead him straight into danger.

I think the best part about Sparks of Tomorrow is the lasting, memorable sibling relationships portrayed in the anime. Kihachi’s emotional connection to his older brother Seiroku is beautifully depicted throughout the show, and in this episode too, during one of his most despairing moments, Kihachi turns to a memory of his brother for comfort.

Then there’s Inako and Noriko’s sisterhood too. The latter might fail to stand up for herself, but she’s always fighting for her younger sister’s dreams and ambitions. In this edition, Inako’s father finally wholeheartedly supports her dream of becoming a master sake brewer and following in her mother’s footsteps to save the family business.

And obviously, despite all these sweet and strong familial bonds, Yosuke simply overshadows everybody with his flashy entrances and obsessive passion for Seiroku’s dream of ushering in an electrical age.

Yosuke mogging everybody in ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’

So this episode of Sparks of Tomorrow ends with Yosuke making a dramatic entry again and becoming successful in his latest mission. Dude’s main character syndrome makes some of us wish he was actually the main character of the show. His over-the-top personality sure deserves all the spotlight.

Anyway, overall, this was a great episode, filled with beautiful animation, emotion, and nostalgia.
