The sea is vast

The beaches open, inviting

But the woods,

Oh the woods!

There is something else about them

Wonder, beauty, mystery

Much mystery

Closed, secretive

You never know

What be behind the next tree

What lurks under the bushes

Or the grass under your feet

Mystifying in the daylight

Terrifying in the moonlight

This is a picture from my Karnataka trip earlier this January. It was a memorable walk, my friends are not in sight, but they are not very far behind. Anything that reminds you of the woods has to bring back the memory of Robert Frost and his immortal poem and these hauntingly sweet words:

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep

And miles to go before I sleep

And miles to go before I sleep”
