The theme is fashion, fame, flight and fall. The 1998 Velvet Goldmine explores glam rock and deals with the theme of androgyny.

I wish I had put more pictures of the three brilliant actors from Velvet Goldmine in my last post, so here is another one, with Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in looks and roles they completely owned. #Respect

Bale in feathers, lipstick and shimmer! He plays a journalist in the movie. But before he went down to serious business , he plays a young man completely smitten by a male singer and an ardent fan of glam rock.

Ewan McGregor as the queer rock star, with psychological problems plays his role with such panache, you feel like giving him a bow. *applause*

And then there is Jonathan Rhys Meyers , the star of the movie, who plays the iconic Brian Slade. It's all glitter, gold and glam for him.

And a last picture of actors Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale, where both of them are barely recognizable.

It could be that there are very few movies which combine the two themes together and I have barely seen any, which is probably why this movie totally blew me away. It could also be because the sort of society I live in is very traditional and restrained, so to see these actors play people who are completely unhinged, rebellious, unapologetic about their sexuality,  that too way back in the seventies, made for such an interesting watch. And the music was absolute delight to the ears! Like they say in the beginning of the movie – even though it is fictional, you must listen to it at full volume.
