The ‘Supergirl‘ teaser-trailer wastes absolutely no time setting the mood. It opens with Krypto the Superdog casually peeing on a Daily Planet newspaper, front page splashed with Superman’s face, and honestly, it’s a hilarious mission statement. This is not your squeaky-clean, cape-fluttering superhero intro.

From there, the two-minute teaser stays packed and wildly entertaining. We pick up with a very hungover Supergirl sprawled on her bed, nothing screaming ‘super hero’ about her. Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El instantly feels messy, sarcastic, and refreshingly human, even when she’s dragging herself through the day, hopping onto a bus.

At one point, Kara raises a toast and declares, “I, Kara Zor-El, hereby declare that 23 is going to be the best year yet.” She quickly adds that it’s “not a very high bar to clear,” which pretty much sums up her vibe. She is charmingly self-aware, bruised, and masking trauma with humor. As the teaser unfolds, flashes of Kara’s past hint at the emotional wreckage left behind by Krypton’s destruction.

There’s trouble, chaos, and just enough world-building to keep fans buzzing, including a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it silhouette of Jason Momoa as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. The teaser also gives a clearer look at Supergirl’s suit, which feels more lived-in than iconic, fitting Kara’s rough-around-the-edges personality. What makes her different from Superman? “He sees the good in everyone, I see the truth,” Kara Zor-el says in her own words.

If this teaser is anything to go by, DC’s Supergirl isn’t here to live in Superman’s shadow, she’s here to kick it, maybe spill some beer on it, and tell you exactly what she thinks.

Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
